Northwind Heating Ltd. is committed to making this website usable by as many people as possible, including people using screen readers, keyboard-only navigation, magnification or voice control.

Standard we aim for

We target conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA. That is the standard referenced by accessibility legislation in British Columbia and federally.

What we have done

Specific measures built into this site:

  • Semantic HTML structure with a single, logical heading order on every page
  • A skip link to bypass navigation and go straight to the main content
  • Full keyboard operability — every interactive element is reachable and usable without a mouse, with a visible focus indicator
  • Navigation menus built as disclosure buttons with correct aria-expanded state, so screen readers announce whether a menu is open
  • Text and interface colours checked for contrast against WCAG AA thresholds
  • Touch targets sized at a minimum of 44 × 44 pixels
  • Form fields with persistent visible labels — not placeholder-only labels — and errors announced to assistive technology
  • Text that reflows without loss of content at 320 pixels wide and at 200% zoom
  • Respect for the operating system's prefers-reduced-motion setting
  • Descriptive titles on embedded frames, and no content that relies on colour alone to convey meaning

Known limitations

We are honest about the parts we do not fully control. The embedded Google Map on our contact page is a third-party component whose accessibility we cannot modify — the same address and directions are available as plain text on that page and in the site footer, so no information is only available inside the map.

Some third-party scripts, such as analytics and chat, are supplied by vendors and may not meet the same standard as the pages themselves.

If something is not working for you

If you encounter a barrier on this site, please tell us. We treat accessibility reports as bugs and we want to fix them.

Please tell us the page, what you were trying to do, and what assistive technology you were using if any. We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within five business days.
